Pink Defender Walkathon on 26 October 2024

The “Pink Defender Walkathon” campaign today at KBR Park was a tremendous success, with over 250 participants gathering to show their support for this important cause. This event underscores the critical role men play in the fight against breast cancer – not just as supporters, but as advocates and caregivers. Standing beside mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters, men can champion early detection, provide encouragement through treatment, and help raise awareness.

Your participation will certainly inspire others and amplify our message of unity and resilience. We would be honoured to have you walk with us.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief guest Sri Mr. C.V. Anand, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, lauded Apollo Cancer Centres and CURE foundation for their efforts in bringing together the community and fostering open conversations about breast health. “Breast Cancer affects not just women but their entire families. Men can play an instrumental role in building knowledge around breast health, encouraging women for self-breast examination, and early detection for better treatment outcomes. Initiatives like the PINK DEFENDER Walkathon help us break the silence and rally behind our loved ones,” he said, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in healthcare.

Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy, Director, Apollo Cancer Centre, Hyderabad, said, “Breast Cancer continues to remain a leading cause of Cancer-related deaths among women. Raising awareness and promoting early screening are crucial steps toward reducing mortality rates and encouraging proactive health measures. We are proud to organize events like the PINK DEFENDER Walkathon, where our male staff, including oncologists and nurses, come together to advocate for the women. Apollo’s #TalkPink campaign ensures that this message reaches every household”.
